Food justice artist Sita Kuratomi Bhaumik ’02, founding member of the People’s Kitchen Collective in Oakland, has been recognized for her work integrating food and art in . Bhaumik’s 2016 piece, We Are Against the Wall, involved building a model border wall out of brick-shaped piñatas and inviting guests to take turns smashing it down.
